Which TV – Plasma or LCD?

High definition television is the craze these days and if you visit anyone’s home, you can surely find one or two of this amazing gadget. Thus, this will make you want to buy one for your own too. You have the money to buy but you are hindered to do so because you are having hard time deciding which one is best for you. To help you with this, here is a basic comparison between the two popular TV types, Plasma and LCD.

Plasma TV is known to produce better picture quality than LCD TV. Due to the technology used to create plasma TVs, they are expected to produce clearer pictures than LCD TV. Yet, there is a downside in this advantage of plasma TVs. Plasma TV screens are susceptible to “burn in”. Burn in is an effect in TV screen where a specific image becomes a permanent part of the screen. For an instance, when you play video games in your TV, there is a part of the screen which shows player stats. That area rarely changes its display so if you are playing using plasma TV there is a high chance that image will become permanent in your screen. Even if you turn off the TV, you will still see an outline of that image on the screen.

Plasma TV provides a better viewing angle compared with LCD TV. Again, due to their difference in screen structure, plasma TV is capable of showing clear images even for viewers sitting at the far right or far left of the screen.

LCD TV is more lightweight compared to plasma TV so this makes them more portable. Yet, since in most cases televisions are not frequently moved, portability might not be a prime feature.

With this, you now have an informed way of deciding whether to choose plasma or LCD TV at home. Each television has their perks and downsides so it is up to you to do the choosing.
